Directed by Bruce McLeod

Nov. 7-23

Lohman Theatre, Los Altos Hills

The robots are rising! Bo List’s thrilling new take on Karel Čapek’s legendary R.U.R.—the play that invented the word “robot”—delivers high-voltage drama, razor-sharp wit, and a warning that feels eerily made for today. Don’t miss this electrifying story of creation, rebellion, and the future of humanity.

"...Artificial intelligence or 'automated ingenuity' (otherwise known as A.I.) takes center stage in the freely adapted science fiction play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots). Originally written in 1920 by the Czech playwright Karel Capek (who, incidentally, coined the term robot-meaning servitude), the story has been taken to new heights by adaptor Bo List and director Brian Pastor. This world premiere production addresses the question of the day, namely: What can happen if A.I. goes rogue?"
