Hands-On Creative and Fabrication Space on Campus

The KCI Makerspace is a hands-on creative and fabrication space located on the lower level of Building 4000. It provides students, faculty, staff, and community members with access to tools, equipment, and training to design, prototype, and build using a wide range of technologies. The Makerspace supports beginners and experienced makers alike, offering guidance from idea development through final project execution.

3D Printers, Laser Cutters, Vinyl Cutters, & More

Spring 2026 Hours (April 7-June 13)

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: 1:00pm-7:00pm
Saturdays 10am-4pm

Exceptions: We will be closed on the following Saturdays

  • May 23 (Memorial Day)
  • June 20 (Juneteenth)
  • The lab includes 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, CNC machines, woodworking and power tools, electronics equipment, sewing and embroidery machines, jewelry tools, casting materials, and more.
  • Staff offer training on every piece of equipment, and no prior experience is required.
  • Once training is completed, you may reserve and operate tools independently.

 

Makerspace Programs

The Makerspace supports Foothill programs such as the Research and Service Leadership Symposium, Innovation Challenge, and project-based courses. Faculty can also bring classes in for demonstrations, workshops, or guided project sessions.

To use the space, you must be enrolled at Foothill College for the current term. Signing in at the Makerspace will automatically enroll you in one of the free, noncredit LINC courses required for access. New users will need a CWID and a KCI scheduling account to reserve training and equipment.

Get Started Making in the KCI

To use KCI Makerspace, you must be enrolled in the current term at Foothill College. This includes FHDA faculty and staff.

NOTE: When you sign in to the Makerspace, you will be automatically enrolled in the free, non-credit courses LINC 401 or LINC 402 . While this process is mandatory, there is no cost to you.

  1. Apply for Foothill Admission  First-time students: After you apply for admission, you will receive your 8-digit student CWID.
  2. Create a KCI SuperSaas Account  With your 8-digit student CWID, create an account to sign up for Makerspace training or make reservations.
