Description: Provides the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an emergency medical responder (EMR) to help sustain life, reduce pain and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until more advanced medical help takes over. The course meets or exceeds the 2009 Emergency Medical Services Educational Standards for Emergency Medical Response and meets Guidelines 2020 for First Aid and 2020 Consensus on Science for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.

Hours: 4 hours lecture per week, 4 hours lab per week. 96 hours total per quarter.
