Video Conferencing with Zoom
Important Changes to Zoom
As we prepare for a virtual Fall, we wanted to update you on some important changes to Zoom that are designed to make your use of Zoom easier and more secure, both for faculty/staff meetings and classes.
Access to your Zoom account
As you may know, Zoom accounts are provided by a statewide grant from the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. Currently, a centralized office, ConferZoom, is the administrator for all Zoom accounts in the CCC system.
On August 21st, ConferZoom transfered administration of our district accounts to FHDA.
Using Zoom from within Canvas
As part of the updates to Zoom, ConferZoom will no longer maintain the ConferZoom app within Canvas. As of August 23rd, a new app “Foothill Zoom” replaced the ConferZoom app.
Foothill Zoom works seamlessly with your FHDA Zoom account. When you schedule a meeting in Canvas through the Foothill Zoom app, the meeting will automatically be added to your FHDA Zoom account—in fact, the app is connected to this account! In addition, the new Foothill Zoom app will add the meeting to your Canvas Calendar.
Beginning September 27th, Zoom will require that all meetings have either a password or a waiting room. Please update all existing meetings to reflect these requirements.
