About Canvas

Canvas by Instructure is the Course Management System (CMS) used in all online and hybrid courses at Foothill College. Some in-person courses may also use Canvas.

📚 Students

When you enroll in a course at Foothill that uses Canvas you will automatically be given an account and access to the course site. If your instructor has not yet published the course you will not be able to access it and the course will not appear on the Canvas dashboard.

Once you are certified to use Canvas you will be able to request Development and Live Canvas sites. We recommend that you request a Development site for the purpose of creating your course site for the first time. After the course site has been created you can import it into another course site for the ensuing quarters.
