Associate Degree for Transfer
Minimum Requirements to Earn an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT)
Planning to earn an ADT at Foothill College? Always meet with a counselor to discuss your degree or transfer plans. Before you petition to graduate with an ADT, you must meet the following criteria:
- Complete at least 18 units at Foothill College.
- Complete a minimum of 27 quarter units in your AA-T or AS-T major.
- Earn at least 90 CSU-transferable quarter units.
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in all CSU-transferable coursework (some majors require higher GPAs).
- Complete one of the following general education patterns:
- The California State University General Education (CSU GE) pattern, or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC-CSU) pattern. Download the General Education for Transfer Guide PDF.
Choosing the Right General Education PatternThe CSU GE version of IGETC is preferred because it ensures completion of the CSU oral communication admission requirement. For high-unit majors, “CSU GE-Breadth for STEM” or “IGETC for STEM” patterns may apply. Check your major’s ADT guide to confirm which pattern is required. |
Important Dates and Deadlines
If you indicated on your CSU application that you will earn an ADT from Foothill College, you must meet with a counselor and file your graduation petition by the published deadline. Deadlines vary each year, so check early with your counselor or the Transfer Center.
