Associate Degree for Transfer

Explore the 30 Available Associate Degrees for Transfer

Foothill College offers 30 Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) — available in two types: Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T) and Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T). These degrees are designed for students planning to transfer and complete a bachelor’s degree in a similar major at a CSU campus.

Students who earn an ADT are guaranteed admission to the California State University (CSU) system with junior standing, though not guaranteed admission to a specific campus or major.

Meet with a counselor for details.

Transferring to a CSU in a Similar Major

The ADT is structured so you can transfer with lower-division major requirements completed at many CSU campuses. For example, an AA-T in English may prepare you for majors in American Studies, Creative Writing, Rhetoric, Literature & Ethnicity, among others (depending on the CSU). The majors for which an ADT is accepted is available on the I Can Go to College website.

For clarification about what is considered a "similar degree," see Frequently Asked Questions about ADTs.

Is the ADT Right for You?

If you are planning to transfer to a particular CSU campus or a non-CSU institution, the ADT may not be the best option. Always meet with a Foothill counselor to review your transfer goals, major, and admission requirements.

The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) may not be the right choice if you plan to transfer to a specific CSU campus or to a university outside the CSU system.

Before deciding, meet with a Foothill College counselor to discuss admission and transfer requirements for your intended school. They can help ensure your coursework aligns with your academic and career goals.

This program guarantees that once you transfer into a CSU in a major similar to your ADT, you can complete your bachelor’s degree with no more than 60 additional semester units.
