Job Description

The Student Accounts Assistant works with the Student Accounts Manager, staff of Student Affairs & Activities, campus students, faculty, and staff. This position is ideal for students of Accounting, Business, Economics, or Mathematics. The working hours are flexible and based on the workload, which can be discussed prior to the employment.
  1. Act as a liaison between ASFC (student government) and the Student Accounts Office.
  2. Data entry (journal entries and cash receipts).
  3. Accounts payable processing.
  4. Assist in reconciling ASFC Smart Shop and Design Center monthly reports.
  5. Filing documents.
  6. Pick up receipts from Foothill College Bookstore, ASFC Smart Shop and Design Center, and mail from the mailroom daily.
  7. Assist the office in attending to questions from students, faculty and staff regarding account balances and other general accounting questions in person and by telephone
  8. Assist in year-end close (June through the end of July).
  9. Assist student-run businesses—Smart Shop and Design Center—on their accounting needs.
  10. Work on the ASFC budget booklet and PowerPoint presentation.
  11. Run on-campus errands related to the Student Accounts Office.
  12. Assist in organizing the office.
  13. Assist the Student Affairs & Activities Department as well as ASFC as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Accounting or mathematics background.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet research.
  3. Familiarity with PowerPoint.
  4. Good communication skills.
  5. Good attention to details.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Flexibility in schedule according to workload.
  2. Enthusiasm to learn and share.
  3. Positive attitude.
  4. Strong desire to learn accounting.

Salary: $10.50 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Hours: 19 hours maximum per week

Duration: Summer/Fall - Spring (consistency is ideal when possible, but family first, and classes and health are priorities).
