INTRODUCTION TO DENTAL HYGIENE

Description: Introduction to the profession of dental hygiene. Emphasis on dental terminology, communication skills, legal and ethical aspects of dental hygiene practice and licensing requirements. An overview of dental hygiene clinical and lab technique including infection control and examination of the head and neck. This course is a prerequisite for the BS degree in Dental Hygiene and is intended for students in that program.

Footnote: This is a fully online hybrid class, with one required virtual lab meeting on Zoom. The virtual lab will be held on Saturday, 2/28/2026 from 9am to 5pm, with a 30 minute lunch break. The remaining part of the class is online asynchronous, allowing the student to work according to their schedule to meet the weekly requirements outlined by the course instructor.
