How to Apply
The Neurodiagnostic Technology Program is a 21-month program with selective admission. Before applying, please see prerequisites.

All applicants are required to attend a live Neurodiagnostic Technology Program information session before submitting their application. These sessions provide important details about the program, admission requirements, application process, and selection criteria.
Information sessions will be offered virtually via Zoom and in person at Foothill College. Applicants must register in advance using the registration link below and attend the entire session to fulfill this requirement.

Mandatory Live Information Sessions
All applicants are required to attend a live Neurodiagnostic Technology Program Information Session before submitting their application. Sessions provide an overview of the program, admission requirements, application procedures, and selection process.
Information sessions are offered virtually via Zoom and in person at Foothill College. Advance registration is required, and applicants must attend the entire session to satisfy this admission requirement.
Applicants will receive a confirmation email acknowledging their submission, along with detailed information about their selected information session date and time.
Admission & Selection Process
Admission to the Neurodiagnostic Technology Program follows a two-stage, merit-based selection process that incorporates a lottery component to determine advancement between stages. The selection process is consistent with Foothill College policies, applicable State and Federal regulations, and program accreditation standards.

| Application Review | Completed electronic applications submitted by the March 31 deadline are reviewed for eligibility, prerequisite completion, minimum GPA requirements, and supporting documentation. |
| Stage 1 – Merit Evaluation | Eligible applicants receive a merit score based on established admission criteria, including prerequisite grades, academic performance, and other qualifying factors. Applicants are ranked according to their total merit scores, with those meeting the qualifying threshold entering a lottery to determine who advances to Stage 2. The lottery is used as part of the selection process but does not replace merit-based evaluation. |
| Stage 2 – Clinical Observation | Approximately 30 applicants are selected through the Stage 1 merit-based lottery to advance to Stage 2. Selected applicants complete a clinical observation and are evaluated using established criteria. Additional details regarding the clinical observation process will be provided during the mandatory information sessions. Scores from both stages are combined to determine final applicant rankings and admission offers. |
| Final Selection and Notification |
The 12 highest-ranked applicants are offered admission, with remaining qualified applicants considered for alternate placement. Applicants are notified of their admission status by email in early June. |
The program admits 12 students every odd-numbered year, beginning with the twelve-week Fall quarter in September.
No WaitlistThe Foothill College Neurodiagnostic Technology Program does not have a waitlist. Applicants who have previously applied and wish to reapply must submit the current application each year. |
Requirements After Acceptance
Students offered admission to the Foothill College Neurodiagnostic Technology (NDT) Program must complete additional requirements before the start of the Fall quarter. These requirements help ensure students are prepared for classroom, laboratory, and clinical education.
Post-acceptance requirements include:
- Criminal Background Check: Successful completion of the required background screening process.
- Immunization and Health Documentation: Resubmission of required immunization records, health screenings, and other clinical clearance documentation.
- CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification: Completion of an approved healthcare provider BLS certification course. Certification must remain current throughout the program.
- NDT Program Lab Kit: Purchase of the required NDT Program Lab Kit containing essential supplies and materials used during laboratory instruction and hands-on skills training.

Important: Applicants are not required to complete these requirements before applying. Students
offered admission will receive detailed instructions, purchasing information, approved
certification options, and applicable deadlines following acceptance.

Students should not initiate background checks, health screenings, CPR/BLS certification, or purchase the NDT Program Lab Kit until instructed by the NDT Program.
