Meet Judy Miner

I have been a proud and inspired attendee, presenter, collaborator and co-sponsor for the Foothill Heritage Month equity, education, and empowerment events since 2007.  One of the most noteworthy aspects of the programming is the planning and execution by students.

Student-Led Planning Committees

Each Heritage Month is planned by a different committee, comprised of student, faculty, staff and sometimes community member volunteers.

Students chair our heritage month planning committees, which meet to organize exciting events for the equity, education, empowerment and entertainment of the campus and community in an effort to increase communication, cultural competency, campus community, and retention.

  • Students who serve as committee chairs are eligible to earn leadership units and documentation that can be used on college applications and resumes.
  • Faculty and staff can earn PAA/PGA credit.

Join Us, Get Involved!

Activities range from and include:

  • Weekly College Hour events on Wednesdays at Noon-1 p.m.
  • Art exhibits and literature events
  • Guest speakers and panel discussions
  • Live entertainment and theatre performances
  • Film screenings and hot-topic workshops
  • Co-curricular Lecture Series events
  • Porch Talks
  • And more — with your ingenuity and ideas!

Student Activities Oversight & Support

The Student Activities Coordinator who works in the Student Activities Office assists with the leadership oversight, logistics, budgeting, planning, marketing and hosting of heritage month celebrations.

We welcome your perspective and new ideas! To learn more about joining a committee, contact the Student Activities Coordinator, Victoria Strelnikova at strelnikovavictoria@fhda.edu.

Supporting Our Student Populations

At Foothill, we are proud of our designation as both an AANAPISI and HSI campus community. Through our Foothill mission and values,  we aim to serve our students by embracing inclusivity and building strong communities. Our Heritage Month Series is part of that.
