INTRODUCTION TO WOMEN'S STUDIES

- Description: Examination and development of the goals, major documents, history, achievements, and evolution of the current women's movement in light of the impact and contributions of women, in comparison to those of men, of various cultural and ethnic heritage. Includes appraisal of the effects of multiculturalism and the women's movement on politics, jobs, education, science, family structure, and the arts.

INDEPENDENT STUDY IN WOMEN'S STUDIES

- Description: Provides an opportunity for the student to expand their studies in the Women's Studies discipline beyond the classroom by completing a project or an assignment arranged by agreement between the student and instructor. The student is required to contract with the instructor to determine the scope of assignment and the unit value assigned for successful completion. Students may take a maximum of 6 units of Independent Study per department.
