Start College Strong with the Foothill College Promise
The Foothill College Promise helps eligible first-time college students begin their college journey with financial support for enrollment fees.
For the 2026–27 academic year, Foothill Promise will cover enrollment fees for eligible students who begin at Foothill in Fall 2026 and enroll full time.
What the Promise CoversStarting Fall 2026, the Foothill College Promise covers enrollment fees only, currently $31 per unit, for students enrolled in 12 to 15 units per quarter. Students who take more than 15 units will be responsible for paying the additional enrollment fees. |
What Students Pay
Students are responsible for paying non-enrollment fees each quarter. Based on current Foothill fees, full-time students can expect to pay approximately $63.75 per quarter, or about $191.25 for the full academic year.
These fees may include:
| Health Services Fee | $22 per quarter |
| Campus Center Fee | $20 per quarter |
| Student Body Fee | $12 per quarter, optional and may be waived |
| Student Representation Fee | $2 per quarter, optional and may be waived |
| SmartPass Fee | $7.75 per quarter for full-time students |
Who QualifiesTo receive the Foothill College Promise for 2026–27, students must:
Important: Students who drop a course during the award period may lose Promise eligibility for
that year. A hardship appeal process will be available for exceptional circumstances. |
Fall Start Requirement
- The Foothill College Promise is available only to students who begin at Foothill in Fall 2026.
- Students who begin in Winter or Spring quarter will not be eligible for the 2026–27 Promise award.
- Current Year 2 Students
- Students from the 2025–26 Promise cohort who are returning for their second year will continue to receive the Promise benefit as originally committed.
Priority Groups
The following students qualify for the Foothill College Promise regardless of household income, as long as they meet all other eligibility requirements:
- Athletes
- Umoja and Puente learning community students
- First-generation college students
Book Support for Umoja and Puente StudentsThe book voucher program for Umoja and Puente students will no longer be funded through Promise. Book support will be covered through other funding sources. |
