What is Peer Online Course Review?

In Peer Online Course Review (POCR), faculty use the Quality Standards Rubric (QS Rubric) and collegial collaboration to improve the student experience, increase online success, and help close equity gaps.

The QS Rubric is built on 19 standards consistently identified across national and statewide frameworks (Quality Matters, OSCQR, QOLT, and OEI). These standards are grounded in research and evidence-based strategies that enhance online teaching and learning. The rubric also incorporates the principles of the Foothill Online Equity Affirmation, emphasizing equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Together, they provide a comprehensive tool for designing high-quality, engaging, and student-centered courses.

Peer review is at the heart of this process. Faculty share ideas, strategies, and solutions with colleagues, focusing on course presentation, assessment, interaction, accessibility, and equity.

This professional learning opportunity gives you the chance to:

• Strengthen your online course by aligning it with nationally recognized quality standards.
• Enhance accessibility, equity, and engagement for diverse learners.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to co-construct strategies that support student success.
• Receive $1,500 (or 2 PGA units) upon successful alignment of your course.

To participate, you’ll need an online or hybrid course that has already been taught and that you plan to continue teaching.

Time Commitment

Expect to spend 2-3 hours per week engaging in professional development, refining your course, and collaborating with peers.
