The Language Arts and Ethnic Studies Division is dedicated to developing the reading, writing, communication and critical thinking skills necessary for students to succeed in their academic classes and in the workplace; fostering global understanding and an appreciation for diverse cultures; and promoting in students a deeper understanding of themselves and others through literature.

The division has four course-specific departments, and four support programs. Students can earn academic degrees and certificates and enroll in specially offered classes, which are announced each quarter.
