AboutBackgroundWelcome, and thank you for visiting my webpage. I am the Chair of the Accounting Department
and a Professor of Accounting and Business at Foothill College. My teaching career
began in 1982 after earning my Doctorate degree in Business Education from the University
of Northern Colorado, with concentrations in Accounting and Management Information
Systems. I have been teaching at Foothill College since 1998. Prior to joining Foothill,
I served as a full-time professor at Evergreen Valley College, where I taught Accounting
and Computer Information Systems courses. Throughout my career, I have remained deeply
committed to student success, academic excellence, and the mission of the California
community college system. Teaching has always been both my profession and my passion.
I greatly enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds and helping them achieve
their educational, professional, and personal goals. Over the years, my dedication
to instruction, mentorship, and student support has resulted in consistently high
evaluations from students, colleagues, and administrators. As Department Chair, I
have worked collaboratively with faculty to strengthen curriculum, expand student
opportunities, and maintain high academic standards while ensuring accessibility and
flexibility for our students.
InterestsOutside of teaching, I enjoy reading, walking, decorating, flower arranging, and traveling.
I am especially fascinated by the Renaissance architecture of Europe and enjoy learning
about different cultures, histories, and customs. Exploring the beauty, traditions,
and artistic achievements of various societies has enriched both my personal life
and my teaching philosophy.
Projects & Professional AchievementsSince joining Foothill College, I have worked closely with the Accounting faculty
to modernize and expand the Accounting curriculum in response to evolving industry
standards and the educational requirements of the California Board of Accountancy
(CBA). Today, all of our Accounting courses are accepted by the California Board of
Accountancy toward CPA educational requirements. Our department currently offers 23
Accounting courses, 10 Certificates of Achievement, and an Associate of Arts degree
in Accounting. All courses, certificates, and the AA degree are available in an asynchronous
online format, providing working professionals, parents, and other nontraditional
students with the flexibility needed to pursue higher education while balancing career
and family responsibilities. I take great pride in helping create an educational environment
that combines academic rigor, accessibility, equity, and student-centered learning.
Our program has enabled many students to advance their careers, pursue CPA licensure,
transfer to four-year universities, and achieve meaningful professional success while
maintaining excellence in education.
