Student Trustee Responsibilities

• Each college in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District elects one student trustee in addition to the five elected trustees.

• Student trustees are chosen by the students of each college following procedures set by the Board.

• The term of office is one year, beginning June 1.

• Student trustees sit with the elected trustees at all public Board meetings.

• They are recognized as full members for questioning witnesses, discussing issues, and making or seconding motions.

• Student trustees may cast an advisory vote, which is recorded before the Board’s official vote.

• They receive all materials given to elected trustees, except items discussed in closed session.
