Why Study Art

The Art Department offers pathways in art history, ceramics, life drawing, digital art, and painting. The art pathways and programs empower students in building foundation-level 2D and 3D art for transfer to university art programs, accommodating all skill levels and creative approaches. The Art History program exposes students to the artistic expressions of diverse cultures and civilizations.

Art History

Our art history courses prepare students for upper division study by developing and improving research and writing skills, critical thinking skills, and visual and information literacy.

Ceramics

The ceramics pathway introduces students of all skill levels to wheel throwing, hand building, and ceramic sculpture.

The painting pathway introduces students of all skill levels to oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting. We offer indoor studio practice and opportunities to paint outdoors.
