Service Leadership

Service Leadership at Foothill College

Meet Eman Magzoub

Eman Magzoub was awarded the first ever Foothill College Presidential Service Leadership Award at the 2019 commencement ceremony.

Also she  received the Newman Civic Fellowship, upon nomination by President Thuy Nguyen. This award recognizes and supports community-committed students who are changemakers and public problem-solvers at Campus Compact member institutions. Fellows are nominated by their president or chancellor on the basis of their potential for public leadership.

Initiative Overview

Service leadership is Foothill College's unique vision for educating students while preparing them to be community and global leaders. Service leadership happens in and outside of the classroom, allowing students to feel more engaged in the college community, and to give back to our neighbors.

Projects are shared at venues throughout the year, culminating in the Research & Service Leadership Symposium where students, faculty and staff share their work with a broader audience.

For the 17-18 academic year, Foothill College began the #60for60 Initiative, which coincided with the college's 60th anniversary.

Service leadership at Foothill College is built with these concepts:

Service Learning • Leadership Courses • Civic Engagement • Scholarship Research and Publication • 21st Century Skills (CTE) • Community Service • Equityservice leadership graphic
