President's 12345 Message from Kristina Whalen

April 10, 2024

Welcome to the Spring Quarter.

The weather has certainly lived up to the brand and is a reminder that we are in the season of growth, renewal, and are witnesses to the power of sunshine (even, or especially, when it is eclipsed). Here is the 1–2–3–4–5.

(1) Community College Night at Oracle Park.

It wouldn’t be Spring without the talk of baseball. I closed out last week at Opening Day for the Giants. It didn’t escape my attention that the California Community College System is a sponsor at Oracle Park. In fact, they are sponsoring a Community College Night on May 13th. Let’s represent Foothill well at the game against the Dodgers. Buy your tickets and Beat LA!

(2) Winner of the Popcorn & Peanuts Raffle Tickets.

Before I leave the subject of baseball, a shout out to student Vania Behnoud, who won two tickets to a Giants game of her choice at my Peanuts & Popcorn meet and greet. [see image below]

(3) Art of Community- Brandon Leake.

Come hungry to the Art of Community: Conversations in Shared Values with Brandon Leake on April 24th from noon - 1pm in room 5015. Brandon won America’s Got Talent in 2020. This special performance is part of the Black Student Success Week and comes with a lunch ticket.

(4) 1st Year as President - Some Joyful Memories.

During Spring Break, I celebrated my first year anniversary at Foothill College. Thanks to Laura Wigod for helping me compile some special memories in this video.

(5) MIPC Agenda Items.

The Mission Informed Planning Council (MIPC) will meet on April 19th from 1-3 p.m. in 1901 and Zoom. MIPC was purposefully designed to focus on the college's mission rather than on the agendas of particular constituency groups. As such, it accepts mission-focused agenda items from any campus member. If you would like to submit a mission-focused agenda item, you can visit the MIPC website for instructions or directly submit your item here.
