The last MIPC meeting of the Fall quarter took place last Friday

This newsletter is a playful take on our unique address. Each week I highlight 5 messages, initiatives, and/or events where I hope we can partner–in thought, spirit, or location–to advance connection and community.

(1) Winter Wonderland Celebration today.

My thanks to Antoinette Chavez and crew for their work turning the Dining Hall into a Winter Wonderland. All are invited to the midday festive break hosted by the President’s Office. Cabinet members will be serving delicious food. Music and themed activities are the perfect preparation for finals week. Make your way to the Dining Hall at noon.

(2) The last MIPC meeting of the Fall quarter took place last Friday.

I’d like to thank the community of leaders that serve on MIPC. This quarter the following was accomplished:

Established a workgroup for the creation of Shared Governance Handbook

Established a workgroup for Institutional Learning Outcomes revision

Provided members to the Faculty Hiring Prioritization process

Provided feedback and communication to the shape of Foothill 2030

Reestablished connection to committees reporting to MIPC

Approved a new Mission Statement

Approved the Institutional Self Evaluation Report for the ACCJC

Solidified the Foothill 2030 leads and teams.

Drafted aspirations for an MOU with the Muwekma tribe

Approved a Distance Education Plan

Tee’d up some good work for the Winter Q

(3) Foothill 2030 Website is live.

Foothill 2030 refers to our latest college planning cycle and includes regular review of the mission statement, vision statement, and educational master plan. Three teams are working on each component, guided by the Foothill 2030 Core Team. You can follow the work at the Foothill 2030 website.

(4) Shop the Ceramics Sale.

I was browsing the table yesterday and was torn between so many beautiful choices. I couldn’t decide! I’ll push through that paralysis today. Don’t miss out on your chance to own or gift artisan work. The Ceramics Sale continues today and tomorrow from 10 a.m.—2:30 p.m. in the Chavez Plaza.

(5) Dual Enrollment Regional Summit.

Partnering with the State Chancellor’s Office, Foothill College will be the host site for a regional summit on Dual Enrollment on March 8th. More details forthcoming.
