The Foothill College Theatre Technology Program offers an AA degree and a variety of certificates to prepare you for entry-level positions in professional and community theatre.

Our classes teach you strong fundamentals of costumes, makeup, scenery, lighting, theatre management, and design for the theatre.

Hands-On Experience

Through our classes, you'll gain significant hands-on experience working on department productions, including our annual musical.

Depending on your area of interest, your work on department productions might include

  • set construction
  • props crew
  • stage crew
  • wardrobe crew
  • operating lighting, sound, or projections.

After gaining experience in entry level positions, you can advance to leadership positions, such as

  • wardrobe supervisor
  • props supervisor
  • assistant stage manager
  • or stage manager.

Advanced students can take on creative roles, including

  • lighting designer
  • sound designer
  • costume designer
  • projections designer

Our program also includes introductions to local theatre companies, with the possibility of working on their productions.

Once you complete our program, you will be ready to further your education at a 4-year college or apply for entry level positions at professional and community theatres. Our current and former students work at theatre companies throughout the Bay Area and beyond!
