President's Office
June 19, 2024
(1) Happy Freedom Day.
May you and your loved one have a meaningful Juneteenth holiday. Our colleagues are excited to invite you to the Library Quad tomorrow, June 20th, starting at 11:30 for a Celebration & Carnival. It's a great opportunity to have fun, connect with your colleagues, and learn about Juneteenth.
(2) Book Club “Beyond Your Bubble”
In a follow-up to Dr. Tania Israel's visit to campus a couple of weeks ago, the Office
of Equity & Inclusion invites you to participate in a Fall 2024 learning cohort around
her book, "Beyond Your Bubble.” Find more details and register here.
The book will be provided free of charge and PGA credit is available for staff and
full-time faculty, and part-time faculty can receive either PGA or a stipend.
If folks have any questions about the book club, please contact Chris Yang, DEI-B Initiative & Program Supervisor.
(3) Service Clubs Wrap Up.
Yesterday, the last service club took place in 1901. As a reminder, this is the second year that groups of employees gathered by years served at Foothill College. Over 8 different sessions (and cupcakes) we reconnected and revisited the relevancy of our current values. We value your input and if you were unable to attend, a feedback form will be circulated so that we can gather perspectives from a broad range of people. Your voice is important to us, so be on the lookout for your form.
(4) Progress from Strategic Enrollment Management.
A group of staff, faculty and administrators made their way to Southern California last weekend for the SEM (Strategic Enrollment Management) Academy. Those attending that I have talked with stated they learned a lot and directions for the college are formative but emerging, at times reinforcing good work already well underway. Thanks to Voltaire Villanueva, Kathryn Mauer, Teresa Ong, Kelaiah Harris, Elaine Kuo, Roosevelt Charles, Ajani Byrd, and Stacy Gleixner for devoting your time and talent to this effort.
(5) Mission Informed Planning Council (MIPC).
The last MIPC meeting of the academic year is held this Friday in room 1901, with a virtual option. See the agenda here.
Yours in service,
Kris
