Assessment and Placement
The Testing & Assessment Center’s goal is to help students succeed, and that begins with proper placement.
Foothill College will use multiple measures – high school transcripts, placement test, and guided self-placement – to assess students for Math, English, Chemistry and ESL.

Don’t Let Math Hold You Back!
Foothill College has undergone some changes as research has shown that students succeed in transfer-level math coursework at higher rates when they are allowed to enroll directly into those courses without first taking remedial math.
As a result, Foothill College has undergone some changes in the Math Department. You no longer need to take a placement test to enroll into a transfer level math course.
There are several courses to choose from depending on your educational plan/path and whether you are looking to earn your associate degree or transfer.
All Students Can Enroll in These Math Courses
