Canvas Training

Faculty and staff are invited to register for the online Canvas Certification training course that is designed to help you master and demonstrate the basic skills needed to use the Canvas course management system. Upon successful completion of the Canvas Certification course, you will receive "Canvas Certification" and thus become eligible to request Canvas sites for your own courses or projects.

Faculty must have "Canvas Certification" in order to use Canvas for scheduled classes at Foothill College. In order to receive "Canvas Certification" from Foothill College, you need to do at least ONE of the following:

Through the guidance provided in the Canvas Certification course, you will build a small Canvas course in your practice site.

    • receive a practice Canvas site as an instructor
  2. Complete the Canvas Certification course

Online Training

Training is self-paced so you can start and finish whenever you are ready. It will take most people about 4 - 6 hours to complete. You will not need to log into the course site on a daily or weekly basis. When you sign up you will be enrolled in both the Canvas Certification and course and given your Canvas practice site.

NOTE: You can make an appointment with online learning for one-on-one help to supplement the online training. If you hit a roadblock in the online course, please contact us right away.
