Dr. Mark Bauermeister received his doctorate in Sociology from Iowa State University
(’14). My specialization has mainly examined social psychological factors for developing
and maintaining sustainable practices in local food system networks. My love and passion
for food systems stems from his upbringing in the Midwest, where I lived and worked
on my family farm for many years in Nebraska. This passion also led me to working
with local communities in the Bay Area, such as Oakland, and Marin County, where I
partnered with organizations to develop sustainable food systems.
