Comments:

My teaching philosophy is informed by the critical pedagogical theories of Paulo Freire, Henry Giroux, bell hooks and many more. This means, in a nutshell, that I believe learning is a student-centered process, in deconstructing hierarchies in the classroom, and engaging in constant praxis. Knowledge is power. We are all here to learn together and I look forward to learning with each and every one of you.

Interests:

If you are interested in joining the Foothill Model UN club send me an email or join us Wednesdays 3001 12-1pm.

Biography:

I am an instructor of political science with a specialization in American politics and political theory at Foothill College. I hold a Master of Arts in political science, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and international relations from San Francisco State University. At SF State I received the Graduate Student Award for Distinguished Achievement. My research interests include the history of liberal political thought, gender, feminist jurisprudence, and minority group politics. My most recent paper looks at the blanket primary system in California and electoral success in the context of gender. I also hold a second M.A. in history, with a focus in North American history, specifically gender and political history in the context of women's political engagement and slavery from Arizona State University. I earned a certificate in online teaching and learning from California State University East Bay. Currently I am working to complete a third masters degree in higher education at Rutgers and a PhD in Philosophy, Art, and Social Thought at the European Graduate School.

Personal Quote:

"Education is the point at which we decide whether we love the world enough to assume responsibility for it." -Hannah Arendt
