Phased Return to Campus
This website is an archive of the Foothill College Phased Return to Campus from Fall 2020 to Winter 2022.
Effective July 1, 2023, Foothill no longer requires proof of vaccination for on-campus classes and masking is no longer highly encouraged.
However, students must still report a COVID-19 infection to Foothill directly. We ask that you stay home if you do not feel well and inform the college if you have been on campus and subsequently been diagnosed with COVID. See details here.
More In-Person Classes and Services for Winter 2022
We are excited to continue our transition back to campus with a robust selection of in-person classes, as well as our highly ranked online education programs and courses.
Winter On-Campus Services
All Student Services offices will be open Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and virtually on Fridays. Health Services and Psychological Services will be open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- The Library will be open for computer use and studying for students registered for winter
- Accommodated Testing for students with disabilities
- Food services
- Music recording labs
- Dental hygiene clinic (open to community)
- Smart Shop NOTE: Students may digitally access their Student ID online.

We will also offer more community events this winter. Community education classes like swimming and boot camp are running. Note: Masks are still required indoors on campus. Students who return to campus for instruction or any in-person service will need to download the Foothill app and complete a self-assessment daily, along with following all COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocol and Guidelines, including proof of vaccination or request for exemption requirements. |
Previous Phases
Our Re-Opening Team
Preparations for the gradual re-opening of campus are led by students, faculty, staff, and administrators and follow the Foothill-De Anza District, state and county guidelines. The college developed guiding principles to steer deliberations. We are prioritizing the return of students, faculty, and staff before we open the campus to the general community.
Our Process
The following steps outline the Foothill College return to campus process:
- The Scheduling Taskforce recommends which classes should return and when.
- The Emergency Operations Council assesses the operational needs associated with the return-to-campus prioritization, including PPE, signage, budget concerns, custodial staffing, etc.
- The Scheduling Task Force recommendations are presented to the Return to Campus Council — a shared governance council made up of students, faculty, staff, and administrators, which makes recommendations to the college president.
- The Foothill-De Anza District approves the plans, which can then be implemented.
Our Approach
We are following the Foothill-De Anza District phase approach to returning to campus operations.
