Daily Health Assessment
Red Badge Instructions
Steps to follow when you get a red badge during your health assessment and you’re directed to stay home. Please communicate with your instructor to let them know you have received a red badge and follow the instructions applicable to your situation.
- I tested positive for covid-19
- I was exposed to a covid-positive person
- I have possible covid-19 symptoms
- Requesting clearance to return to campus before the end of the 10-day quarantine
I tested positive for covid-19
- Students who test positive for covid-19 should isolate for 10 days unless you can provide a negative antigen (rapid-only) test, taken no sooner than day 5 after the first day of symptoms, AND your symptoms are not present or are getting better. If you meet the guidelines above, you may end isolation after day 5.
- If unable to test or choosing not to test, and symptoms are not present or are resolving, isolation can end after day 10.
- If fever is present, isolation should be continued until you have been without fever for 24 hours.
- If symptoms, other than fever, are not resolving continue to isolate until symptoms are resolving or until after day 10.
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings.

I was exposed to a covid-positive person
If you are unvaccinated or eligible to receive a booster but have not done so yet:
- You must isolate for 10 days unless you can provide a negative covid test (taken no sooner than day 5 after the day of exposure to the covid-positive person) AND symptoms are not present
- If unable to test or choosing not to test, and symptoms are not present, quarantine can end after day 10.
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others for a total of 10 days, especially in indoor settings.
- If you test positive, follow recommendations for someone who tested positive (see above).
- If symptoms develop, test and stay home.
If you are boosted or vaccinated but not booster-eligible:
- You must isolate for 10 days unless you can provide a negative covid test (taken no sooner than day 5 after the day of exposure to the covid-positive person) AND booster verification
- Students who provide booster verification do not need to quarantine, but will be required to submit a covid-negative test (taken no sooner than day 5 after the day of exposure to the covid-positive person). Failure to provide the required test will be considered a violation of the Covid-19 Health and Safety Guidelines and Behavioral Expectations.

I have possible covid-19 symptoms
- You must isolate for 10 days unless you can provide a negative covid test (can be taken immediately) AND have not had a fever (99.5 F) for 24 hours AND symptoms are improving.

Returning to campus before the end of a 10-day quarantine
Once you have taken your test on day 5 or later, please email CovidQuestions@fhda.edu with the following information and request to be cleared. A staff member will email back with your clearance.
Please answer these questions to be cleared.
- Have you uploaded your results to PyraMED (like you did with your vaccine card)? We can’t clear you without the results being in PyraMED.
- Were you testing due to exposure on campus?
- What date did you start having symptoms?
- What dates were you exposed to someone with covid? Provide all.
- What date did you receive a red badge? (if no red badge state no red badge)
- What symptoms are you currently experiencing, if any?
- Have you received your booster shot?
