Steve Fund Partnership

About the Steve Fund

The Steve Fund is dedicated to supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of young people of color.

Right at this moment, there are young people of color who are failing academically, suffering emotionally, and/or in some cases are facing serious risk, because population-specific factors influencing mental health are too poorly understood and not acted upon. We are taking action.

Building knowledge and capacity among organizations serving young people of color is a critical element of the Steve Fund’s Mission. Therefore, we offer an array of Solutions designed to assist Colleges, Universities, Nonprofits and Workforce Organizations in improving their mental health and emotional well-being support for young people of color.

Equity in Mental Health on Campus Initiative Grant

The BIPOC Center team, with the Support of the Steve Fund, is leading a committee of Foothill faculty and staff, to participate in the Equity in Mental Health on Campus (EMHC) Initiative. This initiative is designed to guide and support institutions through a transformative process that makes the mental health of students of color a campuswide priority.

The Steve Fund's goal is to better equip schools across the country to prioritize this important work.  Each campus works to address campus racial climate, policies, programs and services to better support the mental health and emotional well-being of students of color. This approach is grounded in equity-centered research, with a design thinking approach. The Design Thinking process includes team composition, needs assessment, action planning, campus action, evaluation, sustainability, and continuous improvement, and learning community action.

Through EMHC, colleges and universities join a cohort that meets regularly to share responsibility, build knowledge, make investments, innovate, and learn from each other.
