Informal Resolution to a Complaint
- A response where the respondent accepts responsibility and the parties agree to findings/sanctions and a hearing is avoided
- An alternative resolution-based response (mediation, arbitration, restorative practices, etc.); OR
- When the Respondent accepts responsibility for violating Policy; OR
- When the Title IX Coordinator can resolve the matter informally by providing remedies to resolve the situation.
- Supportive measures will be given to be both complainant and respondent
- Both parties must give written consent to the informal resolution process
- Any party can withdraw the informal resolution in lieu of a formal grievance process
- It is not necessary to pursue Informal Resolution first in order to pursue Administrative Resolution, and any party participating in Informal Resolution can stop the process at any time and request the Administrative Resolution process. Further, if an Informal Resolution fails after the fact, Administrative Resolution may be pursued.
