Michelle Wu is a seasoned Silicon Valley Hi-tech veteran, a passionate advocate for STEM education. She serves as a mentor for startups and entrepreneurs. Her career started as a Unix system software engineer at Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems. As co-founder of Voicent Communications, she currently leads generative AI chatbot application development. Michelle also served as Mayor and Council Member for the Town of Los Altos Hills, where she created the Emerging Technology Committee, bringing technology to a semi-rural community with a unique perspective to public service.
Michelle is an Adjunct Faculty at multiple colleges including Foothill College, California Science and Technology University and Golden Gate University, teaching Engineering Graphics, Network & Infrastructure Management, Cyber Security and AI applications. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Michigan State University, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Sichuan University, and an MBA from California Science and Technology University.
Robert Cormia is a full-time faculty member in the chemistry department at Foothill College. He began teaching Web technology at Foothill in the late 1990s, joining Foothill full-time in 2001. He helped develop the bioinformatic certificate and later the nanoscience program funded by the NSF. He has taught energy technology and helps FHDA-CCD analyze energy use. He began teaching chemistry in 2016, and now teaches an introductory chemistry course for Allied Health students. His interests include energy, climate change, carbon capture, and more recently cheminformatics and AI (LLMs). He's integrating AI into his chemistry course including a D-ID AI assistant, and training and encouragement for students using LLMs to help in supporting instruction. He strongly believes AI will revolutionize education, especially personalized instruction for students of all abilities and background.
