ASFC Events & Marketing Assistant

Job Description
The Events Assistant provides direct staff support online and on campus for the cultural months activities and other events, and acts as a liaison for the Student Activities Specialist and events planning committees. Will work with Smart Shop and Design Center on a daily basis. Daily tasks include checking in on time each day at the beginning of the shift and monitoring the quality of the marketing stands, display cases, display tables, storage closets, banners, promotional tables imputing text, creating letters, stuffing the faculty/staff boxes, motivating and assisting planning committees, gathering photos from the committees, mail room visits, phone calls and other responsibilities and requested by the Student Activities Specialist. Assisting the ASFC Activities Board, Marketing Board and OBD Clubs Board and clubs. Other duties as assigned. Other responsibilities include:
Fingerprinting Required for job acceptance. If you apply, you're agreeing not to come into the ASFC and help out/volunteer or sign up for an ASFC position or volunteer to get trained. If you want to apply to be an ASFC leader you would need to resign. You can work AFTER your Social Security Card and paperwork employee packet are completed and Christine Johnson gives you your start date.

- Help develop and display promotional and other marketing material
- Keep records of all contact information for Heritage Month leaders to promote Committee meetings
- Create and keep archives of fliers, timelines and other information
- Track event attendance, event feedback, statistics and surveys
- Provide logistical needs for guest speakers and performers, and events in general
- run audio visual equipment
- set-up and remove tables, chairs, tents, etc.
- able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum qualifications
- Effectively relate to people of diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Enroll in at least 8 units each quarter of employment
- Maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average
- Show proficiency in basic computer skills and software (Microsoft Word)
- Dress professionally
- OwlCard required
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with campus offices, locations, programs and services, helping students at Welcome Week booths and daily in the hallways and Campus Center and other event or recruitment venues
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, creative
- Two to three-quarter commitment is preferred.

Salary: $17 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
Hours: 19 hours maximum per week
Duration: Summer/Fall - Spring (consistency is ideal when possible, but family first, classes and health are priority)
