Foothill College Pharmacy Technology Program Ranked Number One in the Nation

pharmacy technicianFor the second year in a row, Foothill College’s Pharmacy Technology Program has earned a #1 ranking from the Pharmacy Technician Guide, an education and career resource for the field. The top ranking is out of 496 evaluated programs across the country. 

This ranking (www.pharmacytechnicianguide.com) is based on a variety of factors including average tuition cost, graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratios and loan default rates. The total cost of the Foothill program for in-state students is less than $2,500 for tuition, books and supplies. Tuition for similar accredited programs at for-profit schools can cost as much as $22,000. 

“It is truly an honor that Foothill’s Pharmacy Technology program is once again ranked #1 in the country,” said program director Angela Su. “This recognition is a  reflection of our dedicated faculty, first-rate facilities and many successful graduates. Completing this program at our community college is a rewarding and affordable way for individuals interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy.” 

The Pharmacy Technology program is currently accepting applications for 2019-2020. Applications are due June 1, 2019. The nine-month nationally accredited program prepares pharmacy technicians for careers in retail pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, compounding pharmacies and skilled nursing facilities. 

Foothill’s pharmacy technician graduates have a 100% success rate in passing the national certification exam and some receive job offers before graduation. Registered pharmacy technicians are in great demand nationwide, throughout California, and especially in the Bay Area. Interested applicants can download the application at foothill.edu/pharmtech.
