Queer Art History
Part of LGBTQ+ History Month
Join by Zoom
June 08, 2021
4 -5 p.m.
Featuring FC Art History Professor Cynthia Brannvall! What can queer art history teach us about the fluid aspect of identity and gender as a matter of social justice and belonging? Queer Art History is an introduction to the rich visual and cultural history before, during, and beyond modern Queer Rights movements. Topics will include the homosocial space of the Greek Symposium, the secret language of clothing, and the origins and appropriation of the iconography of the pink triangle. We will also examine a selection of LGBTQI historical and contemporary artworks.
