Foothill Students Win Scholarship Award Each academic year Foothill students apply for scholarships in hopes that they will be a selected recipient. Along with the honor of receiving such an award comes a cash grant from $100 to $20,000. This year, several students of African ancestry were chosen to receive scholarship awards after a competitive selection process. Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear I rise. - Maya Angelou African American Novelist Visits Foothill College Lalita Tademy, author of new book, Cane River, visited Foothill College June 6 as part of her international book tour. Heralded as the female version of Roots, Cane River chronicles Lalitas search to learn of her family who were descendants from slaves in Creole Louisiana. A copy of her book is available for check out in the Foothill Library or may be purchased in Foothill Bookstore. Make use of our Network! Louis Robinson Selected Student Trustee 2001-2002 Louis Robinson, Foothill student, was recently selected as the Foothill College student trustee to serve on the Foothill De Anza Community College District Board of Trustees. Louis has been actively involved in campus life activities at Foothill College serving in a number of leadership capacities. He was co-chair of the African American History Month Planning Committee 2001 and ASFC Parliamentarian of the Associated Students of Foothill College. Foothill College Scholarships We strongly encourage all students to apply for scholarships by visiting the Foothill College Scholarship Office located in the Student Development Center. The application deadline date is usually during late February. Recipients are notified in April. Next year, you could receive a scholarship to offset your college expenses. Meet Foothill College The Foothill College Ujima Internship Program is a developing program that provides students an opportunity for experience in journalism, Web site development and student outreach with a focus on the campus Afrocentric community.
