Student Equity Workgroup hosting
Who We Are Influences Our Work workshop later this month
The Student Equity Workgroup (SEW) is hosting a day-long workshop entitled
Who We Are Influences Our Work with nationally-known consultant Dr. Frances E. Kendall on Friday, February 26 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Hearthside Room.
We all function at three levels at the same time: the personal, the interpersonal, and the organizational. Because we want to believe that we treat everyone "the same," we tell ourselves that we leave our thoughts and biases at home, yet they show
up in our behaviors, our decisions, and our interactions every day. In this session we will explore the importance of being conscious of the attitudes we hold and the impact they have on our behaviors so that we are able to provide the best service possible
to all of our students.
For more than 40 years, Dr. Kendall, has focused on organizational change, diversity, and white privilege. Her clients include colleges and universities, corporations, and non-profits. Because she believes that personal and organizational change
is possible, she is committed to facilitating the core changes necessary to create work environments that are hospitable to all people. Author of
Diversity in the Classroom and Understanding White Privilege: Creating Pathways to Authentic Relationships Across Race, Dr. Kendall was recently named a "Pioneer of Diversity" by the
Profiles in Diversity Journal.
