Payments

There are several ways to pay tuition. Tuition and health insurance fees are paid each quarter, not annually. Tuition costs are based on the number of units that you enroll in and may change each quarter. For this reason, payments are not due until you have already enrolled in your classes. All other expenses, including books and housing, are paid separately.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The affordable tuition at Foothill College cuts the cost of studying in the U.S. by half or more. Since we are a public college, there are currently no scholarships available for new international students on F-1 visas. Federal or state financial aid is also not available to F-1 students.

Second Year Scholarships Second-year students, may apply for scholarships (ranging awards from $500 to $4,000), although there are no full scholarships available.  Most scholarships are for students who demonstrate academic and extracurricular achievements.

On Campus Employment International students in F-1 status may work on campus up to 19 hours per week. All student work opportunities are part-time. Wages begin at $8 per hour and can reach $14 per hour. For more information about eligibility and requirements, visit On-Campus Employment.

Please note: On-campus work cannot be used as funds available to cover the estimated expenses for I-20/visa purposes.

Transferring Out Many students also receive scholarships at a 4-year university when transferring. Scholarships may be based on a student’s academic, leadership skills, or athletic performance. You can learn about transfer scholarships for international by visiting the Transfer Center, attending the Transfer Fair, or by meeting with a university representative.
