What has been your most interesting class at Foothill and why?
Humanities with Professor Kurt Gravenhorst. He is such a great professor that I decided to take both Humanities 1A and 1B with him.

Why did you choose Foothill?
I heard that Foothill and De Anza were good colleges with a great reputation, and my sister went to De Anza. I was actually planning to go to De Anza, but since I live close to Foothill, I decided to come here. I’m definitely happy here as it is a really nice campus.

What are your plans after Foothill?
I want to transfer to UC-Berkeley or a university on the East Coast.

What are the main differences between education in India and what you have experienced here at Foothill?
The main difference that I have noticed is that the teacher-student bond here is much more friendly, and professors are much more approachable and helpful. In India, we respect our professors, but there is much more distance between students and their teachers. Here classes are more interactive, casual, and teachers respect students' opinions. Teachers here are more open to different perspectives, and there is a lot more interaction and dialog within the classroom.

I have also noticed that there are a lot more extracurricular activities and chances to get involved and have fun on campus. There are a lot of options for activities outside of the classroom.

What advice would you give to new international students?
It’s not as scary as you think. People here are very accepting, nice and understanding. Things are easier than you imagine them to be.
