A preview of your next two years

2nd Year Student

We welcome you "Firsties" and know you're excited
We've got Animal Care help and we sure are delighted

You'll be scrubbing the kennels and scooping some poop
It's really not that bad if you have a fun group!

You'll learn to pick hooves and to give anesthetics,
You'll know how to care for and feed diabetics.

You'll learn all the right places to give your injections,
and all about drugs that will fight off infections.

You'll learn about drugs that will speed up the heart,
cure hairballs in cats and help dogs not to fart.

You'll know all the cage heights for gerbils and dogs,
for Rattus norvegicus and Xenopus frogs.

You'll learn to do x-rays both prone and supine
You'll study all species including Ovine.

You'll learn about "Quats" and Biguandines and such
You'll discuss them ad nauseum·It's really too much!

You'll learn about plastics the use to make cages.
Discuss RBC's and our friends·macrophages.

You'll learn funny words like, "Trichobezoar"
and "Borborygmus and so many more.

You'll learn haw to suture a wound or incision,
and know how to make and emergent decision.

You'll do calculations and take lots of quizzes.
You'll know what to clean with if somebody whizzes.

You'll know HBC, ADR, PRN.
You'll learn how to handle a Parrot or Wren.

You'll take lot's of tests that are PAGES and PAGES.
You'll set lots of dials and read lots of gauges.

Dr. Holmstrom will teach you to polish teeth right,
To do an extraction, to check a dog's bite.

Cervical Line Lesions and bad Stomatitis
You'll learn that they start with Grade III gingivitis.

You'll learn who gets Scurvey and who cries red tears.
Oh, so many things that you learn while you're here.

These classes aren't easy You have to work hard,
no time to watch TV or to hang in the yard.

We seniors will help if you don't get some "stuff",
But you've got to make sure that you study enough.

Doctors Peter and Mac Dougall are really first rate
Your learning experience We're sure will be great!
