Grant Resourses and Support

What is a Grant?

Grants are non-repayable funds or products disbursed or given by a grant maker — often a government department, corporation, foundation or trust — to the college to perform specific activities or services to provide a unique solution to a distinctive problem.

In order to receive a grant, some form of  grant writing, often referred to as either a proposal or an application, is required.

There are several types of grants available, including federal, state, foundation, and corporate grants

Steps to Pursuing a Grant Opportunity

If you find a grant that you think would benefit Foothill College, your first step is to discuss the grant potential with your dean or department manager.

Authorization to  Seek Funds from External Sources

Start by completing the FHDA Preliminary Evaluation and Grant Concept Form and Grant Routing Sheet.

Before writing the grant proposal, it is imperative that all fund solicitations from foundations, corporations, and individuals be coordinated district-wide, through the FHDA Foundation, and through the district grants office for public grants and sponsored projects.

This form must be signed by your manager, division dean, and then please send to Peter Chow at chowpeter@fhda.edu to indicate that your request meets college, program, and/or district priorities, and must be cleared by the appropriate support service if facilities, technology, and/or research support will be required.
