Student Learning Outcomes -

• A successful student will be able to utilize economic thinking and logic to explain and critically assess different perspectives pertaining to the issue under study.
• Students will demonstrate their understanding of important economic concepts through one-on-one discussions with the instructor, and/or through a research paper.

Description -

Provides an opportunity for the student to expand their studies in Economics beyond the classroom by completing a project or an assignment arranged by agreement between the student and instructor. The student is required to contract with the instructor to determine the scope of assignment and the unit value assigned for successful completion. Students may take a maximum of 6 units of Independent Study per department.

Course Objectives -

1. Plan an independent study project in Economics.
2. Conduct the study by means of literature research, fieldwork or laboratory work or other means mutually agreed upon in the student-faculty contract as appropriate for the discipline.
3. Present the results of the study in a written or oral report or by some other means as determined by the contract.
