| In the News... | | | | Beyond the F-1: Pursuing the H-1B & Permanent Residence After Graduation | | November 20, 2009 | | 1 to 2 p.m. | As part of International Education Week, this presentation meets in the Campus Center Hearthside Lounge (Room 2313), and features immigration lawyer Gali Gordon. She will discuss employment opportunities for international students after graduation. Light refreshments will be provided.
Gordon personally guides her clients through the nuances and complexities of immigration law. She counsels employers as well as professionals, entrepreneurs, students, scientists, artists and families. She is a regularly invited speaker on immigration issues both nationally and locally, and in 2009 was named a ‘Rising Star’ by Super Lawyers magazine, an honor awarded to the top 2.5 percent of immigration lawyers in Northern California under age 40.
She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned a law degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She spent the first several years of her career at the law firms of Morrison and Foerster, LLP, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, PC, where she represented venture-financed start-up companies, venture capital funds, and Fortune 500 companies, as well as refugees and asylees pro bono. An immigrant herself, she has lived and traveled abroad extensively, and enjoys working with people of different cultures. She speaks Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Japanese and French. Additional accomplishments include 2008 AILA Pro Bono Benefactor; outstanding volunteer in Public Service Awards, 2002, 2004 from the Bar Association of San Francisco; member, California Bar Association; member, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA)
