We Can Help You Afford College & Build a Better Future

Money Dollar Bills We understand that the search for financial aid can sometimes be difficult. Attending college does cost money, but there are many programs available that can help you obtain the money you need. Foothill College gives you convenient resources and expert help so you can apply for financial aid on time and with confidence. Start with the steps below and don’t forget to ask for assistance whenever you need it from the financial aid experts in the Foothill Financial Aid Office. Remember, financial aid applications are free and so is help completing them.
  1. Submit the Foothill Application for Admission. It’s online at www.foohill.edu;
  2. Visit the Foothill Financial Aid Office to get one-to-one expert help working through the process and applying for all your financial aid opportunities;
  3. Compile your financial documentation such as income tax returns;
  4. Fill out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
    This step opens the door for virtually all forms of financial aid, including the Pell Grant, Cal Grant, scholarships and low-interest student loans;
  5. Fill out the application for the California Community Colleges Board of Governors Enrollment Fee Waiver (BOGW) at www.foothill.edu/aid. If you’re eligible, this will cover all your enrollment fees;
  6. Stay on top of important dates posted on the Foothill Financial Aid Web site at www.foothill.edu/aid and the state’s site at icanaffordcollege.com.

Key dates include:

  • You may file your FAFSA after Jan. 1.
  • Send your FAFSA to the federal processor postmarked no later than March 2.
  • Submit your application for Foothill scholarships by March 18.
  • The Cal Grant programs have two deadlines: the general March 2 deadline and the Sept. 2 deadline specifically for California Community College students. To apply, fill out the FAFSA and be sure to file your verified Cal Grant GPA Form by Sept. 2. The number of Cal Grants available for the September deadline is limited, but you still must meet the filing deadline to be considered.

For many types of financial aid, including the BOGW, Pell Grants and some scholarships, you can apply year round. It’s a good idea to apply before the quarter begins so you’ll know if you’re eligible before classes start.
