Improving Online Learning
Get More Out of Online Courses

If you’re thinking of taking an online class, Foothill now offers an Internet course designed to maximize your online learning experiences. The hands-on, one-unit CNSL 90: Effective Online Learning class is interactive and makes use of the latest Internet tools.

You’ll learn the personal skills, computer requirements, study habits and time-management techniques that will contribute to your success as an online student.

“The course covers concepts, tools and techniques for online learning success,” says Foothill Counselor and Computer Information Systems Instructor Jerry Cellilo. “You’ll review the questions you need to ask institutions, instructors and yourself before you register for an online class. Through self-assessment, online interactive, and use of the various tools and resources on the Internet, you will develop an understanding and practice the skills needed to be successful when engaging in online learning.”

Spend Summer in Costa Rica or Vietnam
Plan Now to Study Abroad

Spend Summer Session 2003 in Costa Rica or Vietnam, and immerse yourself in the language and culture of foreign lands. The Costa Rica trip runs Aug. 2-17. The Vietnam trip runs July 2 through Aug. 6.

During each trip, you’ll enroll in 12 units of courses such as literature, drama and history as you tour historic landmarks and experience life and culture abroad. Classes are taught by Foothill College faculty.

Space is limited and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must have a 2.5 grade point average and have completed 12 units of college credit prior to departure.

The program fee includes housing, three meals a day with a host family and weekly laundry service. Group airfare may be offered and financial aid is available.

In addition, a Fall Quarter campus abroad trip to Salamanca, Spain, will be offered Oct. 8 through Dec. 6.

Experimental Theater in Scotland
Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Fringe FestivalSample some of the most eclectic modern plays, experience the history charm of Scotland and earn college credit by enrolling in the four-unit DRAMA 85X: Field Trip to The Fringe course offered later this summer. Space is limited and sign-ups accepted now through May 1.

Twenty-five Foothill students will attend the world-famous Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, see several plays each day, and write commentary on each performance.

“You will be changed by this experience,” says Instructor Carol Wolf who will lead the course. “We’ll be attending original plays performed by theater companies from all over the world. You will look at things differently after experience The Fringe.”

The course runs Aug. 7-18. Program fee is $1,330 and includes enrollment fees, airfare and lodging expenses. A deposit it required by June 1.

It's critical that you register as soon as possible for spring classes at Foothill—courses with insufficient enrollment as of April 3 may be canceled. On the appropriate date listed below, you can register and pay your fees online.

You must remit payment in full for all fees by April 18 or you will be dropped from all classes.
